Students from Fifth and Sixth classes represented the school on Monday 20th January at the second year of the regional VEX Robotics competition held in Dundalk Institute of Technology. Over the course of several months, the 12 students built and tested the robot during and after school hours. They put huge efforts into the project, working well as a team throughout and their efforts were rewarded when they took home two prestigious awards: The Teamwork Challenge Award and the Skills Challenge Award as well as coming second in the regional competition.
We congratulate our neighbours from across the river Boyne, St. Mary’s Parish Primary School who took home the overall prize from the competition and with whom we shared the Teamwork Challenge award.
We also share with St. Mary’s our involvement in the Schools Excellence Fund: STEM project entitled “Northeast STEM Champions”. Our participation in the VEX Program and Competitions is made possible by the STEM Champions project.
