UPDATE 1st February, 2021
Dear Parents,
The Government has made a decision on foot of public health advice to extend the level 5 restriction measures in place to suppress the spread of Covid-19, and as part of these measures to continue this phase of school closures. This decision has been made in the context of wishing to avoid the movement of the full one-million strong school-going population daily. The closure of schools will be kept
under ongoing review by Government.
We will continue with our plan for home learning and ask that if you have any technical issues accessing the learning platforms seesaw, reading eggs, spelling shed, spellingsforme for your child(ren), please do contact us at techsupport@astonvillageetns.com.

UPDATE  7th January, 2021
Dear Parents,
In response to the worsening situation with regard to the spread of Covid-19 in Ireland, the Government has this afternoon announced the continuing closure of schools for the month of January. As our classes are faced with another prolonged closure we’ll implement our plan for home learning which we shared with you back in October:https://astonvillageetns.com/school/policies/plan-for-home-learning-contingency/Please continue to check our website and see emails and texts for further updates. I know this closure will only add to the challenges being faced during this awful pandemic by parents, children and school staff but I wish you all well and let’s do our very best to get everyone through this as safely as we can. Many thanks,

Principal Dermot

4th January, 2021
Dear Parents,

I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the break and I wish you and your families good health and happiness in 2021.

As many of you already know, the Minister for Education & Skills Norma Foley TD has announced to the media that the Christmas school break will be extended for three additional days to January 11th. According to the Minister, this will allow every member of the school community to follow public health advice closely and minimise their contacts before children return to school. While the Government intends to reopen schools on January 11th, this is subject to review and will depend on NPHET advice later this week. I’ll update you if there’s any change to the reopening plans.

Some of our families may have been travelling outside of Ireland during the break – just a reminder that all overseas travel requires a period of quarantine of 14 days upon your return.

Please see our website and check texts and emails for any further updates.

All the best,

Principal Dermot
