As the school year comes to an end, the time has come to return any school books – rental textbooks, reading books or library books – that your child may have been using at home over the past few months. These books should have an ‘Aston Village ETNS’ barcode on the back. These books belong to school and need to be returned in preparation for the new academic year. School workbooks, such as Mental Maths, Spelling Books and School Journals do not need to be returned.
This is also an opportunity for you to collect your child’s belongings from school – all the items which would usually go home at the end of the school year. It is important this happens to allow our classrooms to be as clear and tidy as possible for cleaning purposes before the new school year. Staff will have these items in a plastic bag and have them ready for collection at a specific timeslot that will also be texted to you via Aladdin (see times below)
Please prepare any books to return to school by:
- Putting all school books being returned in a plastic bag.
- This bag needs to be labelled with your child’s name and class.
- If you have more than one child in school please use separate bags.
On your allocated day for collection, please (unless not possible) drive a car to the school bus stop on Dunlin Street (Point 1) where a staff member will take your name and go into the building to get your child’s belongings. Drive through the school gate and continue on the right hand side of the road around the turning circle to the Coisceim playground entrance (Point 2) where you can hand the plastic bags containing your child’s books out a car window to a staff member. You can then drive back towards the school gate and stop in front of the flower bed (Point 3) where a staff member will hand you your child(ren)’s belongings through a car window. This is a one way route and does not involve stepping out of your car. See picture of the route below.
If you do not have access to a car, please walk to the school bus stop (Point 1) to request your child’s belongings and then follow the one-way footpath route marked out, similar to the car route. Only 1 adult per family should come to drop off and collect items, except where there are 3 or 4 siblings in our school, in which case 2 adults may come. Once you have received your items, please cross to the other side of Dunlin Street as quickly as possible to leave space for others. Please note you can only collect your own family’s belongings.
Please come if at all possible on the correct day during your timeslot below. In the possible event of having to wait, feel free to consider returning later in your timeslot.
