On Friday last, we welcomed back Cllr Michelle Hall (who was formerly an SNA at our school) to perform the official opening of our Coiscéim Sensory Room. The room is now a very valuable resource for our students and offers them a range of tactile, visual, and aural stimuli as well as spaces to escape to and avail of breaks from the other goings-on in our busy school. So after many years of determined and dedicated fundraising efforts by many individuals from staff, students and parents, we proudly (and emotionally!) watched as Cllr. Michelle along with parent Paul Tolchard, performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Paul is father to our student Lars, and it was Paul’s late wife, Imelda who was a member of our PTA, whose wish it was to have an official, ceremonial opening of the Sensory Room. Our PTA members and school staff thought it very fitting to mark this event in Imelda’s memory.
