The Green committee visited the V and W Recycling Centre in Drogheda today 17th of April. During the trip the committee sorted various recyclable materials into the correct compartments. The children also felt some glass that had been recycled down with no sharp bits. They also looked at the compost which is made from the trees and hedges that are sent to a factory and then recycled into organic compost. We also looked at a bus that was broken down but had 250,000 aluminum cans around the outside of it. In the bus there were various items made from recyclable materials. Plastic from the bottles are sent to a company and melted into new plastic. Cling film is made into pellets and used to make bin liners. We also looked at how batteries and bulbs are recycled and were surprised at how many there were.
