On Friday the children celebrated their last whole-school assembly together of 2014 before heading off on their winter holidays. There were performances by Junior and Senior Infants, Liz’s class gave us some of the songs from their recent play, “The Snowman at Sunset”, Síle and Alicia’s Classes performed the Magic-e Song, Maria and Brian’s classes danced and sang their songs from Strictly Fairytale Come Dancing, we had songs from Lisa’s and Claire’s classes before Dara’s Sixth Class gave us their version of the Band Aid song “Do they know it’s Christmas?”
We had the presentation of the Principal’s Prizes for November and December and then the presenting of the prizes for the winners in each class of the Green Flag Poster Competition. Before heading off in different directions, no assembly would be complete without the whole-school rendition of The Hammer Song! Principal John thanked everyone for a great term and for all the hard work put in by the teachers, staff and students.
