On Tuesday March 20th, 9 of our senior boys travelled to take part in the FAI 5-a-side Schools Competition in Oriel Park, Dundalk. They all put in a huge effort and were rewarded with 2 victories out of 4 matches. The team made great use of the skills of Prince Esanber who scored 12 of our 14 goals in the competition and finished as top scorer of the competition’s entire group stage, the other 2 being provided by Sencer Kayisoglu. A closely fought 5-3 defeat to Faughart NS was followed up by a resounding 7-5 victory over Louth NS. The team followed this up with an excellent 4-2 win over Bellurgan NS, before falling short against the strongest team in the competition, St Oliver’s of Carlingford. Strong defensive performances from Radu Sirghi, Brian McDonagh and JJ Ogkudice were complemented by the great effort of Ronan O’Gara, Oskar Sitciewicz, Raheem Afelabi and Lukas Sivak. Well done to all involved, and we can look forward to participating in next year’s competition.
