Sinead’s Fourth class celebrated all things ‘Drogheda United’ on Friday by making every lesson a Drogheda United – themed lesson! Teacher Sinead used the power of AI to create lessons in Maths and English with the theme of our favourite football club and the students loved it! The class made posters and artwork on the theme of ‘The Drogs” and they also used their creative talents to compose new chants and songs for the supporters!
Teacher Gearoid also added to the build-up atmosphere for the big match by means of a competition. We simply had to write the name of the Drogheda United Captain on a piece of paper and enter it in the box to be in with a chance to win a Drogheda United beanie hat, the perfect prize for the eventual winner and Super Drogs Ultra Fan – Darragh Malloy from second class. Well done Darragh who, likeĀ many of our students and teachers, is heading to the AVIVA Stadium on Sunday hoping to see our Drogheda United heroes bring home the FAI Cup for the first time since 2005. Drogheda’s last outing to the showpiece final of Irish Football was in 2013 when they were narrowly beaten by Sligo Rovers on the day. We hope that luck is on our side on Sunday when we face a strong Derry City team in the final but we do fancy our chances as we have played Derry 4 times this season losing twice, drawing once and beating them 2-1 in our most recent encounter in Weavers Park at the end of September.
Well done to all of 4th class on getting us in the mood for the final! If you cannot make the match, be sure to tune in to RTE2 on Sunday at 3pm to cheer on from home.
COME ON THE DROGS!
